Padadhirasana – Breath of Balancing Pose
This yoga asana is especially effective in balancing the ida and pingala flows. (Listen to the Introduction, ‘Balancing the Breath’ audio.)
Sit in any comfortable pose or kneel.
Cross the arms in front of the heart chakra placing your right hand under the left armpit and the left hand under the right arm pit. Your thumbs should point upwards to the shoulder on both arms.
Close your eyes.
Breathe slowly and deeply while applying pressure under both arm pits. Practice until the breath flows through both the ida and pingala channels become equalized.
Imagine that while you are breathing the flows are becoming equalized as this will improve the effectiveness of this practice.

Neurotransmitters and Diet
Neurotransmitters are chemical substances that transmit messages between cells. If you don’t eat enough of the correct foods, especially amino acids or proteins, you can become depleted of the building blocks that the body needs for mood, thinking and proper sleep regulation as well as proper metabolic functioning of the body. Muscle contraction and the proper functioning of the cardiovascular system require neurotransmitters.

Examples of neurotransmitters are dopamine, histamine, seratonin, acetylcholine, glutamate and GABA. Some studies also show that vitamin C and vitamin B, especially niacin, are also important to neurotransmitter production.
